Canal Walk

Beginning south of the capitol at 12th and Main Sts, this path follows the locks of the James River-Kanawha Canal proposed by George Washington help ships bypass the James River Falls. The path continues over a footbridge to Brown's Island across from Tredegar Iron Works. Take an informative 35-minute historically narrated tour of the James River & Kanawha Canal. This leisurely cruise accommodates 38 passengers and departs on the hour from the Turning Basin, between 14th and Virginia Streets, along Richmond's Canal Walk.
