This house is the oldest known dwelling within the original City of Richmond and dates back to before the Revolutionary War. Formed in 1921, the Poe museum commemorates Poe's literary and cultural achievements. Opened in 1922, in The Old Stone House, the museum is only blocks away from Poe's first Richmond home and his first place of employment, the Southern Literary Messenger.
